As an instructor, you should have already spoken with your Oxford University Press sales representative, selected the textbook you would like to adopt, chosen the digital resources you would like to use in your classroom, and decided on a purchasing path for your students.

If you have chosen to have your course hosted by OUP (rather than using one in your institution’s LMS/VLE), your OUP sales representative will have corresponded with our digital team to have a Learning link course created for you, and you have been able to explore your virtual learning environment and set up your course materials to your preference.

But how do your students gain access to this environment?

In order for students to access your OUP-hosted Learning Link course, they should visit the unique URL for your course which you will have received when the course was created (which will look like oup.instructure.com/enroll/[xxxxxx]).

If a student already has an account on OUP’s hosted Learning Link courses platform, they can log in with their existing credentials. If they are new to it, they will be prompted to create an account.

Once they log in, they are enrolled in your course.

However, the first time they encounter protected content such as the ebook, they’ll be prompted to activate their access by selecting one of three methods:

  • If they are not ready to redeem a code or make a purchase, they may select “begin a free trial.”
    • Beginning a free trial will allow full access to your Oxford Learning Link course materials for the duration of the trial period specified on screen, usually 14 days.
    • After the completion of the trial period, students will be prompted to redeem an access code or purchase access in order to continue accessing protected content.
  • If the student obtained an access code with their textbook at your bookstore, they will select “redeem access code.”
  • If they do not have a code and wish to purchase access directly, they will select “purchase with a credit card.”

If your institution is involved in an affordability program, and the student has not opted out, they may be granted access in passing, and not need to take any of the above actions.
